Overview

Our team was requested to rebrand the old team, Media Network, to follow Best Buy US and rebrand as Best Buy Ads Canada.

Our goal was to push for bigger brand recognition and to represent our own service, white still being connected to our parent company Best Buy, and to match with the US, who had launched a year before Canada.


What we've updated

All the changes were updated by the original Media Network team: our senior digital designer and myself, digital merchandisers and our manager. Our timeline was to complete within three weeks to be ready in time for the official launch at a Las Vegas convention.

What I was tasked to update on the design side:

  • LinkedIn backgrounds for team-use
  • Social media posts and newsletter banners
  • Email signatures
  • PowerPoint Presentation templates
  • Confluence page updates from old name/brand
  • Confluence page for brand assets and usage, including different logo versions, email signature instructions, PowerPoint templates, Teams and LinkedIn background downloads, and illustration files
  • Convert brand page assets to current style guide

Created a couple versions for the team to choose from, while ensuring that the headline couldn't be cut off when adjusting the screensize.

We had limited on time to redesign the brand page and could only update the banners and placement that already existed from Media Network. Plans for research and improvements to increase website traffick will be completed at a later date.

Limitations and workarounds

  • Had to split up the work due to the short timeline, and had to prioritize improvements to complete on a later date.
  • Had to follow the existing style guide produced by the US.
  • Limited access to illustration working files (could only use what they give us).
  • Could only produce LinkedIn backgrounds for team members, and not approved to have a separate LinkedIn business page.


Final thoughts

Within a year, Best Buy Ads has already increased it's brand awareness and ad revenue from vendors to more produce assets.

The team continues to increase both internal and external marketing to increase more brand visibility to bring even more business and become an irreplaceable asset to Best Buy Canada.
